Yeah I feel that but if folks do not want to classic wow gold level new personalities they then can play the continued servers. The old world levelling is also considerably faster, you can definitely get to 60 within 2-3 weeks of sane playtime.
I really think getting to content 2-3 weeks after to get a literal completely different server experience is well worth it but I'm in a minority.
A strict cap isn't going to work. For example, should they restrict it to 1000 gold subsequently players/bots will purchase subs or accounts to use as mules to disperse their gold . If gold was reset to 0, players/bots would bring across copious amounts of substances to market in TBC.
There are a lot of players needing to purchase vanilla profession materials, for example. There are also some bis consumables that use vanilla herbs.
And the greatest reason not consider it, is that unless they follow with a severe attempt to stop gold buyers/sellers, subsequently change only hurts honest players.
Almost 80 percent of the new people we take in mywowgold wow classic gold seem to turn out to be gold farmers. (I feel that the gold farmers are more widespread as they use WoW for a job and bounce between scripting and actually controlling their toon) We have never gotten any kick backs from these personalities but we usually take just two raids to determine they're gold sellers to be able to kick them out of guild.
